Roads are harbinger of economic development


Dispur, April 13: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the beginning of contruction and repairing work of a 2.35 km Mancotta-Hatimora road at Dibrugarh on Sunday. The road will be built at a project cost of Rs 1.69 crore under path nirman achoni of 2016-17.

Speaking on the occasion Sonwal said that construction of roads has been one of the priority agendas of the present Sate Govt. since roads are harbinger of economy. A well coordinated network of roads has been conceived of to facilitate economic development of the people of State.

He also said that the State Govt. with the help of the centre will build 9000 Km of roads under PMGSY by March 2019 involving a total expenditure of Rs 6500 crore.

He also said that the State Govt. for a good quality construction and maintenance legacy, will design a system of training for the contractors for making them empowered and efficient and technologically sound. He also said that Mancotta-Hatimora road would improve the local connectivity of the people of Dibrugarh. He also said that unders Chief Minister's Samagrya Gram Unnayan Achoni in the first phase Govt. will provide one tractor besides setting up of a knowledge centre and one play ground in each revenue Village.

Member of Parliament Rameswar Teli, MLA Prasanta Phukan, Rituporno Baruah and host of other dignitaries were present at event.
