Dispur, May 14: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal advocated for spiritual orientation of youth for guiding them to lead a disciplined life. The Chief Minister said this while laying the foundation stone of a Rongamancha (auditorium) of an extended campus of Sri Sri Auniati Satra at Kacharibari, Mancotta in Dibrugarh district today. The auditorium is to be constructed with an expenditure of Rs. 1 Cr. under Chief Minister's Untied Fund for 2016-17.

Underlining the pivotal role that spiritual institutions could play in spiritually energizing the youth, the Chief Minister said that spiritual teachings give purpose to life and guide people to serve society with deep sense of social responsibility.

Maintaining the view that the Rongamancha of the Auniati Satra would strengthen the bond of amity and harmony amongst the people of Mancotta area with its message of spirituality, the Chief Minister observed that spiritual teachings help in inculcating human values and contribute in social wellbeing. Sonowal also viewed that once completed, the auditorium would add glory to the rich heritage of 180 years old Dibrugarh town.

Terming the parents and teachers as the two most powerful forces which shape the future of the youth, the Chief Minister urged them to play an active role in creating a just and upright society. Sonowal also stressed on imparting moral education to the youth to develop them as ideal human being.

Stating that the state government has taken up various initiatives for conservation and development of the Satras, the Chief Minister commented that the Satras give a distinct identity to Assamese culture and it is through the spiritual knowledge that Assam could establish its uniqueness in the national platform.

Satradhikar of Sri Sri Auniati Satra Pitambar Deva Goswami, MP Rameswar Teli, MLA Rituparna Baruah also spoke on the occasion.

MLAs Prashanta Phukan, Sanjay Kishan, Suren Phukan, CEM of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Dipuranjan Markari, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Dibruagarh were also present among others on the occasion.
