CM interacts with senior citizens and local organizations at Tinsukia


Dispur, May 6: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal interacted with the senior citizens and representatives of various organizations of Tinsukia district in a programme held at Hotel Aroma Residency in Tinsukia today. The programme was organized by the Tinsukia district administration.

Taking part in the interaction, Chief Minister Sonowal urged the people of the district to take a lead in promoting and reinforcing peace and harmony amongst all communities of the state. He said that Tinsukia is a heritage district and it has set an example of harmonious coexistence in the state. He also called upon the people to take the message of this bonhomie further to every part of the state. Sonowal took stock of the challenges faced by the district and advised the people to put joint efforts for their solution.

The Chief Minister also informed that the government is gearing up for celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in a befitting manner in the state. He said that the target set by the government to declare the state open defecation free to mark the commemoration would be a reality with active support and cooperation of the people to the government.

He also spoke about the advancements made in the state in the industrial sector as a result of the recently held Global Investors' Summit. He observed that the developments would significantly help in easing out the unemployment problem. He also sought constructive criticism from the public on the functioning of the government.

The Chief Minister further sought suggestions from the senior citizens and representatives of the organizations for taking up development initiatives in Tinsukia. The representatives apprised the Chief Minister about the issues and challenges faced by the district.

State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, MP Rameswar Teli, MLAs Sanjay Kishan, Balin Chetia, Bhaskar Sharma, Suren Phukan, Teros Guwala, Bimal Bora, Binod Hazarika, DC Oinam Charan Kumar Singh, other senior officers of the district were present during the interaction.
