• A new era of Governance in Barak Valley ► To bring administration to the doorstep of the citizens and strive for equitable development of Barak Valley, Cabinet has approved creation of Barak Valley Development Department ► The Dept will benefit the people of Cachar, Sribhumi and Hailakandi through rapid development and create job opportunities for support staff • Boosting Clean Energy Production ► To boost farmers' income and move to cleaner fuel alternatives, Cabinet has accorded approval to Production Linked Incentive of ₹2/litre of ethanol for a period of 3 years to 3 grain based ethanol manufacturing units • Financial Support to NOK of deceased inmates ► Cabinet has approved the Policy of Compensation to the legal heirs or to the Next of Kin (NOK) of prisoners in cases of unnatural death

► The One Time compensation will be provided as per the following Sl. No Cause of Unnatural Death Compensation (in ₹) 1. Quarrel among prisoners - 2 lakh 2. Torture/beating by prison staff - 3 lakh 3. Negligence in duty by prison staff - 4 lakh 4. Negligence by Medical Officers/paramedics - 4 lakh 5. Suicide committed by prisoners - 3 lakh
