Celebration Bhupen Da's 100th Birth Anniversary To celebrate the life and times of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, Cabinet has approved commemoration of his 100th birth anniversary through a year-long celebration from 8 September 2025- 8 September 2026 ► A 50-member Centenary Celebration Committee headed by Chief Minister of Assam along with other distinguished personalities will be set up. Chief Ministers of all other 7 North East States will also be invited to be a part of the committee ► Commemorative events will be held in Guwahati, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Arunachal Pradesh - One important institution will be renamed after the legendary personality - The Cabinet resolved to invite Hon'ble Prime Minister for the inaugural ceremony on 8th September, 2025 and Hon'ble President of India for the culmination ceremony on 8th September, 2026 ► A biography of Dr Bhupen Hazarika will be released and translated in diverse languages ► Documentaries on the life and legacy of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika will be commissioned ► Cabinet also approved pursuing with the Union Govt for the issuance of a commemorative coin in honour of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika
