Ensuring Fair Compensation ------ # Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2023 approved # Bill seeks to ensure just & fair compensation to people whose land is acquired for projects to foster an environment of trust between Govt and land owners, paving the way for consensus-based voluntary acquisition of the land needed for public projects. #Bill also seeks to protect the interests of persons other than land owners through lump sum Rehabilitation & Resettlement payment. #The State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt any of the following projects from the application of provisions of Chapter II & Chapter III. • The projects listed in section 10A are those vital to national security or defence of India. # Projects listed in section 10A will be exempted from the provision of taking prior consent of the land owners.
